Paolo Guarda

Head of Research Section, Banque Centrale du Luxembourg

Paolo Guarda is Head of the Research Section of the Banque centrale du Luxembourg.  He holds a PhD in economics from the European University Institute (1999), where he also worked as research assistant.  After his studies, he joined a Luxembourg public research centre, working to develop a macro-econometric model for the National Statistical Institute, and taught statistics at the University of Luxembourg.  In 2000, he joined the Central Bank in the Business Cycle Section of the Economics and Research Department. He was appointed Head of the Research Section in 2007.  Paolo's research interests focus on applied macroeconomics and include monetary policy, banking, business cycles and financial cycles, potential growth and productivity.
