Principal Financial Stability Expert, European Central Bank

Peter Welz is a Principal Financial Stability Expert in the Directorate Financial Stability and Macroprudential Policy at the European Central Bank. He joined the ECB in 2010 and has contributed to the preparations of monetary policy decisions and to setting up the ECB’s analytical framework for macroprudential policy analysis. He is currently working on financial stability risk identification in the euro area and the analysis of global systemically important banks.  Previously he has been working in the Monetary Policy Department of Sveriges Riksbank and the Economics Department of the OECD. He holds a PhD in Economics was from Uppsala University where his doctoral dissertation was ‘Quantitative New Keynesian Macroeconomics and Monetary Policy’.
