Christian Merkl

Christian Merkl is an Assistant Professor at Christian Albrechts University, Kiel, and an Economist at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (affiliated to the research area Reforming the Welfare Society and head of the research area Monetary Policy). He obtained his PhD from the University of Kiel in May 2007. Before moving to Kiel, he studied in Nuremberg, Strasbourg and Detroit.

Christian Merkl's research interests include labor economics, monetary economics and the intersection of the two fields. He published in the American Economic Review, in the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, and in Macroeconomic Dynamics.
