Christiane Baumeister

Christiane Baumeister is a Principal Researcher in the International Economic Analysis Department at the Bank of Canada. Her research interests include empirical macroeconomics, energy economics and applied time series econometrics. She has published a number of papers on time-varying macroeconomic relationships with applications to the oil market and the transmission mechanism of both conventional and unconventional monetary policy using Bayesian methods. Christiane has also worked extensively on forecasting the real price of oil. Her recent research is concerned with set identification in structural vector autoregressive models. Christiane has been a visiting research scholar at the IMF, the Banque de France, the University of California at San Diego, and NIPE. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from Ghent University in Belgium.
