Dr Klaus Wälde has been Economic Adviser in DG Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission since April 2003. He holds this post on leave from the University of Dresden where he has been Professor of Economics, Lehrstuhl für Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen, since 2000. He took his doctorate at the University of Keil and his Masters Industrial Engeneering (Wirtschaftsingenieur) at the University of Karlsruhe.
