Spring 2026 statement of the Dating Committee on the current state of the economic activity in the euro area.
The CEPR EABCN Euro Area Business Cycle Dating Committee convened on March 11, 2026, to assess the current state of economic activity in the euro area, using quarterly data through the last quarter of 2025, and monthly data through January 2026.
The euro area economy remains resilient. Although growth remains subdued, it continues
to be positive and broadly stable. Domestic demand, particularly private and public consumption, continues to provide the main support to economic activity, partly offsetting
weaker external demand and a drag from net exports.
